ASTRO TUNES

the Music of the Spheres, as a Therapeutic Tool

Pythagoras traveling in the Ancient Near East of 500 B.C. was said to learn the method by which planetary position was assigned a tone. He returned to Greece and taught it to his students/disciples. Largely forgotten by later cultures, recent archeological findings in the Middle East dating from 1800 B.C. to 800 B.C. proved that the Babylonians, Canaanites, Hebrews and many others of that time/place had worked out a tuning procedure, instructions and theory regarding music performance. Found in the ruins of the Ugarit library upon a clay tablet dating to 1400 B.C. was a hymn to the moon goddess Nikkal, which even included the tuning to be used.

It is well known the Babylonians and Assyrians ritualized every part of their lives. For example, a cuneiform music tablet from Assur, ca. 1100 BC is a song catalogue which lists various song types and tunings. This included lovesongs, work songs, hymns & prayers. There too is the following quote from P.Crossley-Holland's, 'Non-Western Music' in Pelican History of Music vol. 1,pg.16: "From early Sumerian times (fourth millennium) the temples had been centres of learning where priests, liturgists, mathematicians, and astrologers worked together. In Chaldæan times, some three thousand years later, the tradition of astrology emerges more clearly, and we know that musical theory was already closely connected with astrology and mathematics..." Also, during the First Temple Period of Israel...

In the early morning hours before the dawn, the Hebraic temple priests, those who belonged to the family of Levi, opened the temple in preparation – cleaned out the ashes and debris from the night before. And then climbing to the top of the hightower, they would blow a mighty blast on the shofar or ram's horn, calling everyone to temple; to worship, sing psalms and hymns in the key of the day, to enhance, for good or bad their individual awareness of the god that existed in everything around them.

Tones, be they aural or visual shake us, grab us, do things of which we’re not even aware. The keynote for Aquarius is ‘E’….but the colour is violet. Like violence, this colour is dangerous if used too much for too long. Purple beats at a very high frequency, it breaks down structure. And even the workings of your brain can be measured in a frequency, running from zero to 50cps; from comatose to "outward directed attention"...

Our hearing runs the gamut of approx 16cps – 20,000cps. The piano covers the bottom of this: 27cps – 4,200cps. All these tonal numbers can be doubled or split in half to arrive at its upper or lower ‘octave’ tone. The lowest note on the piano is an ‘A’ at 27.5cps, divide this and we have 13.75cps; i.e., whether we hear them or not, they’re there; like bass notes that shake the house.

But why is it with some music we feel great and with other music we are repulsed? Perhaps one’s personal horoscope will provide an answer…

Would it be possible to know as well as certain, how specific tones & notes will affect any given individual? Could it be possible that is, in the present-day future, a person will chose certain music, tones or notes to modify their behavior and emotions?

As there are 12 signs to the zodiac, there are also 12 notes in our musical system -previous articles discussed how to correlate the two. If you were born with Sun in Pisces your tone for your Sun is ‘F’; if you were born with Jupiter in Pisces your tone for your Jupiter is ‘F’. But the other 6 tones of the 7-tone scale for the Sun, and again for Jupiter would be very different; in that the ‘F’ tone falls in a different place for each scale.

No doubt, thats too much info/detail, but it is a very precise system tested and researched with always the same conclusions, the same results.

ASTRO TUNES, by which one can ascertain one’s personal tones from one’s horoscope is a method of transposition I developed after 12 years of grueling research, paid for out of my own pocket, traveling to libraries throughout the United States - reading, questioning, testing the validity of my findings. It is a procedure that has been notarized and patented and utilizes the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

Each of those 7 planets defines some facet of your personality and life, what Carl Jung called "archetypes". Listening to their tones, or music brings these individual archetypes to the surface, allowing a conscious awareness. Create or enhance your therapeutic experience by choosing from this list of planetary association to correspond with your treatment needs.

SUN - heart, ego, sense of self, prominence, promotion, business and social advancement.
MOON - mother, home, hearth, security, feeling safe, nurturance.
MARS - action, impetus, fear, innovation, sexuality.
MERCURY - communication of all sorts, telepathy, thoughts and ideas.
JUPITER - shared emotions, trust, openness, faith, spirituality, opportunity.
VENUS - self-esteem, worth, assets, expressed appreciation, 'love', harmony.
SATURN - father, authority, focus, guilt, reality, patience.

Listening to ASTRO TUNES 'attunes' you to yourself as an individual. It facilitates your connection to your fundamental nature, stimulating a response wheather you intently focus on the music or simple use it in the background. ASTRO TUNES can be used during yoga, meditation, or any kind of excercise program; while driving, stuck in traffic or around the home.
